  • To reconnect and return to our true nature, in tune with the natural world.

Remembering we are not separate from nature, but deeply interconnected. Interwoven into the tapestry of the landscape.

This is where we tend to our Sacred Roots, and rekindle the hearth fires of belonging.

Freya, the creatrix behind Sacred Roots Apothecary, lives in the Scottish Highlands and cultivates deep relationship with the land around her.

Listening to mother earths whispers in the subtle shifting of seasons, Freya intuitively crafts bespoke ritual boxes to honour our cyclical beings, the earth, her seasons and Sabbats.

With the intention to support nature connection as a gateway to healing the disconnection to earth and ourselves.

THE POWER OF RITUAL

  • From our ancient ancestors to the digital denizens of today’s secular society, humans have used rituals to motivate, move and connect Us. While for many, the religious aspect may have fallen away, the true roots remain : of how important rites and rituals continue to be for us to make meaning, create identity and express our place in the world. Our ancestors embodied this vital aspect of human existence, and it is time we reconnect to ritual in its true sense.

The need for ritual is a basic human instinct, as real, as urgent and as raw as our need for food, shelter and love. And it is every bit as crucial to our survival. A compelling urge to merge with the infinite, ritual reminds us of a larger, archetypal reality and invokes in us a visceral understanding of such universal paradigms as unity, continuity, connectivity, reverence and awe. Like ceremony -- solitary or shared -- offers us a way to relate intimately with the primordial universal force and allows us to embrace that sacred power that informs and fuels all existence. Ritual is our lifeline to the divine.

The absence of significant ceremony in our lives has left us feeling disconnected, confused, alone and bereft. Insulated and isolated in extremely intense times, we dangle, stranded in an enormously complex universe without a spiritual safety net to save us.

One of the most important features of rituals is that they do not only mark time; they create time. By defining beginnings and ends to developmental or social phases, rituals structure our social worlds and how we understand time, relationships, and change. Without the reclamation of these vital rites of passage in our lives, we feel lost and disconnected from the world around us, therefore continuing the pattern of disconnect from the natural world and ultimately ourselves, our true nature.

  • Making space for Ritual in our modern lives, in even the smallest way helps us all reconnect to our true nature, as beings of the earth. Helping us to re~tether ourselves to the great web of life, and with that re~weaving the tapestry of belonging.

Invoking Ritual could simply look like :: intentionally sipping herbal tea as the sun rises or mindfully celebrating the seasonal shifts. Crafting ritual does not have to be complicated or grand, it cannot be capitalised, it belongs inherently to us all.
